Bounty started up ten years ago. What we do is we distribute packs to expectant and new parents' right throughout the country and we distribute through midwives, hospitals, basically lead maternity caregivers. Statistics, they were quite crucial in setting up the company ten years ago because we needed to know the regional birth rates throughout the country so we could forecast volume to reach, also forecast warehouse space, staffing, all that sort of thing. So it was crucial in starting up the company in the very beginning. Probably the biggest thing is that its information that our clients need, that our advertisers need. So we can pass that information on to them. They want to know about seasonal trends, they want to know where the births are taking place and so they direct their marketing activity around those stats so if we can give them that information then they will be more than happy to advertise through us. We go to Statistics New Zealand and they do the work for us which is the great thing. The ones that we use are simply the regional birth rate stats; we have also tapped into the consumer buyer behaviour statistics and also drilling down to stats covering ethnicity. But definitely just the regional birth-rate stats are the stats that we are using all the time.

Gelita is a New Zealand based company. We are based here in Christchurch and we are the manufacturers and producers of gelatine. We use overseas trade statistics especially in the sales function role here and for research and development it gives us the opportunity to identify where gelatine products are coming from and what specific markets we could be targeting. It gives us the opportunity to break into the markets or target the markets that might already be there and expand them.

At Creative Kat we provide photographic, film and DVD services for weddings. When I was setting up the company I phoned Statistics New Zealand and I asked for information about weddings in Canterbury . Stats NZ provided me with a wealth of useful data that allowed me to learn more about my market and target audience than I could have gained from any other method. The data I got from Stats allowed me to be confident that there was enough work for the new company. Currently I use Stats data to target customers within Canterbury . As my company grows I can use data from other areas in New Zealand and work out where to grow the company. Through Stats data I can work out where to expand and where my customers are, I can see how much they are spending on similar services and if I require a business loan to expand I can back up my business plan with a detailed analysis of the new area we are moving into. Stats data has given me invaluable insight into my marketplace, both locally and nationally. Without it I would have been working in the dark and could have wasted a lot of time and energy and marketing budget needlessly. Cheers Stats.

At Eco Frame and Mirror we manufacture high quality frames and mirrors. We provide a retail service from our shops in Christchurch and a hanging service for homes and businesses in the South Island . The company has been very successful and recently we have been looking into the best way to increase sales. We approached Stats NZ and they provided us with data that has allowed us to investigate our options and detail and has allowed us to make decisions about the best way to move on with our business plans. With Stats data we can target our ideal customers and get a much better return on our marketing spend. Stats data has also allowed us to see how many picture frames are sold within New Zealand . We can also see how many are imported into New Zealand and exported to other countries. This information has enabled us to work out a marketing plan to start exporting picture frames and mirrors. Stats info can help you know your market and make informed decisions. If you own a business phone Stats now.
